Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Join us as we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which passed on July 26, 1990. The ADA is a landmark piece of legislation that guarantees full rights to people with disabilities, free from discrimination.

Accessible transportation continues to be a key aspect of the ADA, and the ACCESS program and Port Authority of Allegheny County have been heavily involved in this since the 1970s. Efforts made by local disability advocates, the ACCESS program and Port Authority in creating accessible transportation are recognized nationally. Watch Port Authority’s new video, highlighting the accessibility of Port Authority’s system in celebration of the ADA. Plus, be on the lookout for Port Authority’s ADA 30 wrapped buses!

While we have come a long way in ensuring access to all, there is more work to be done.

The ACCESS program is part of the local ADA 30 Celebration Planning Committee. For more information, go to: https://fisafoundation.org/ada-30/.
