CONNECTIONS FACT SHEET
Do you have a disability?
Would you like to travel by Port Authority, but bus service
is not available?
ACCESS CONNECTIONS IS YOUR RIDE TO THE BUS!
Then ACCESS Connections is for you!
You can travel for any purpose. The service operates
seven days per week throughout Allegheny County between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.
This service will:
Enable you to get to a Port Authority bus stop or the T to get to and from where you are
going
Provide you with personal assistance in planning your entire trip
Take you on ACCESS to or from the closest, usable bus stop, if the bus stop is more
than ¾ mile from your home or destination. This works just like a park and ride.
Provide a direct ACCESS ride if the trip on the bus is less than five (5) miles and would
take you more than ninety (90) minutes, or if there is no bus service.
How do you qualify for ACCESS Connections?
Anyone with a disability is eligible for the service.
Call ACCESS at
(412) 562-5353
to request
an application.
The application form is short and there is no requirement to appear in person.
Verification of a disability and proof of age is required.
How does ACCESS Connections work?
You will have your own personal travel navigator at ACCESS who will help you plan your trips.
She will assist you in determining the best Port Authority bus routes to use for your trip,
deciding which bus stop to use, and scheduling the ACCESS trip to get you to and from the
bus stop on time.
If there is no bus service within an hour of the time you wish to travel, or if you would have to
spend more than ninety (90) minutes on the bus to go five (5) miles or less, she will arrange a
direct ACCESS trip for you.
